Objectives:
To increase student knowledge of internet safety
To teach students skills on how to use the internet responsibly, ethically, and safely
To show students where, when and how to report instances of online crime
to teach students how to protect themselves from inappropriate online behaviour
Activate:
Have students brainstorm (independently or in groups) as many dangers that the internet poses that they can think of
Have the students complete an "internet and real world" Venn diagram to compare and contrast the differences in doing things online versus doing them in everyday life
e.g. how would meeting people, sharing information, socializing, giving an opinion, etc., be different on the internet than in real life?
Present and discuss in groups various case files of youth who have been victimized or nearly victimized online

Discuss the importance of reporting online crime immediately and direct the students towards the following websites where they can report online crime:
